Emerging Artist: Shapes & Colors

Shapes & Colors promo photoRising from the ashes of Aria Aesthetic, Shapes & Colors is an alternative rock outfit hailing from Troy, Michigan. Debut album Hold Your Breath, released in May 2012, shows an incredible amount of promise for a group trying to find their niche in the industry. For a first album, Hold Your Breath is a refreshingly cohesive and consistent release. Listeners will find themselves drawn to powerful, precise vocals, honest and transparent lyrics, and melodic guitar work. Perhaps the highest compliment that I can pay to Shapes & Colors is that I caught vibes from bands such as Coheed & Cambria, Emery, and The Dear Hunter during my journey through Hold Your Breath. Shapes & Colors have promised big things in 2013 but until then, Hold Your Breath is enough to hold us over.

Shapes & Colors is:

Travis Bobier – Vocals, Guitar, Keys
Aaron Loftis – Guitar, Vocals
Mike Morris – Guitar
Bob Allers – Bass, Vocals, Violin
Zack Waggener – Drums, Keys

Be sure to also check out Shapes & Color’s three song Apparitions EP. If you can’t be bothered to listen through an entire album, these three songs are a strong sampler of their sound. Stream Apparitions here.
